There were lots of events happening across every discipline this week, showcasing just how much our club gets involved in.

The week started with various schools’ competitions. In the Independent Schools Midlands qualifier in Cheltenham, where there are fields of 100 young athletes in each race with stiff competition, Freddie North came 3rd in Year 3 and 4 boys, and in the Year 5 and 6 race Hugo McCarthy, Freddie Parente and George North ran, with George winning the Year 5 and 6 race. Aya St Juste came 9th in Year 7 girls with Mason Heath coming 30th in the Year boys. Despite being unwell, Isaac Beresford stood on the start line and came 21st in Year 8 and 9. As a result, Aya, George and Freddie all qualified for the next stage; fantastic results for them!  Well done to all of our squad for running, and all having fabulous runs!

In the Notts schools’ sports halls competition, we had more great results for our juniors. Lauren Townrow won all the events she entered, and Roman Marks and Isla Arthur’s school squads were overall winners- absolutely brilliant!

At the South Yorkshire Athletics Indoor Series, Isaac Beresford competed in a range of events as Under 15 boy. He achieved a massive PB in shot put (7.53m), came 1st overall in long jump (4.69m) and achieved a 60m PB- a great day out!

And next to our seniors, who this weekend took on various events on many terrains!

A massive shout out to Neil Allsop, who did the Rasslebock 6-hour events on both Saturday and Sunday at Clumber Park, where runners aim for as many laps of a 4-mile ish loop as possible in the time allowed. Neil completed a marathon on the Saturday, running 26.27 miles. He then went one better on Sunday, completing a massive 30.4 miles for an ultra-marathon distance! Well done, Neil. We will let you miss a week of interval training as a result.

Also on Sunday, a few brave Harriers tackled the Skegness 10k in some fierce winds! There were great runs across the board with Nick Mould having a reason to crack out the champagne, achieving a big PB and new standard in 40:56, Nia Arthur with a great run in 51:46, Alex Edwards continuing her return to form after injury in 56:16 and the ever-wonderful Carolyn Luckham in a great time of 1:05:06. Well done squad!

Finally, Cath Mhembre ran the Tissington Trail half marathon on Sunday, coming second in her age cat (55-59) with a fab run of 1:56:28.

Great running everyone! Next week sees more XC action as our seniors aim to retain top places in the local XC competition.
