Another busy week for the senior and junior squads this week! We had seniors doing ultras , road races, fell and trail.

For the seniors, Saturday saw the Hathersage Hurtle take a place, a 20 mile, 2500ft trail run in the Peak District with Sam Robinson, Kirsty Fairbairn-Wint, Jo Campbell, James Morgan, Louise Morris and Nat Cunningham taking part. We also saw the first running of the Biggest Mouth competition with competitors lining up to fit a whole cake in their mouth, which apparently Nat won easily.

The White Peak 10k also took place Saturday. A downhill trail race, notoriously difficult on the quads due to the elevation and terrain, meant 3 Harriers walked away with very fast times. Adam Jonczyk (5th ) and Nick Mould (7th) came top 10 and Mark Townrow walked away with a PB!

Sunday saw Tanja Maric do Chesterfield 10k, coming in under an hour and providing another excellent finish line photo!

Sally and Jim Staveley and Kerry Dickinson took part in the Leaden Boot Challenge, a 26.2 mile trail and fell event with 4800ft elevation. Despite a fall, Sally finished with Kerry well inside the 12 hour cut off and Jim ran his way round in 6 hours. These three have a knack of entering events with the best feed stations, and this one was no exception, with hot meals to finish!
The county development squad competed in the North of England Senior League on Saturday. The team was small but mighty, with many absent due to exam revision requirements. Our three athletes performed amazingly, gaining three first place finishes, four second places and one third place, across 8 events.
Lyndon Cupit Richards was 1st in 100m and Long Jump, Freddie Marks took 2nd at 400m, long jump and 1st place in high jump. James Lonsdale took 3rd at 400m, 2nd in 1500m and 2nd in 5000m. a fantastic set of results!

The juniors had a very busy week starting on Monday. The ISA regional schools qualifier, comprised of various athletic events, saw Hugo McCarthy compete as a guest athlete with great results, and a top 5 and 6 for Freddie Parente (Javelin and 150m). George, Freddie and Penny North and Frankie Boden-Hook and Gigi Walker all qualify for the nationals, with two regional titles for George (600m/Highjump), gold and bronze for Freddie (600m/relay) and a para Gold for Penny (50m), and gold in relays for Frankie and Gigi. What a team!

On Sunday, the Notts AAA mini leage took place. Full results are awaited, and will be available at www.nottsminileague.co.uk/track-and-field, where future fixtures are also found. Our young quad kids smashed it, with an overall win for the Under 12 boys and the girls performing superbly.

Our older athletes also had great days, and across the age groups there were some fantastic performances, efforts and PB’s. More importantly, it gave our big squad great experience, an opportunity for older and younger junior athletes to come together as a team, a chance to take part in a great day, and they all gave it everything they had. And apparently, there were the loudest and the best at cheering their clubmates on. We cannot ask for more than that!!
