We start off just up the road as the Harriers were in action at the Worrall festival chase. A challenging 4.5 mile course and 700ft of climb out of Wirral before a fast descent in to it with your reward on the finish line a pint from the beer festival. First back to the bar was Bryan Cherry for the harriers followed by Dave Bulmer and Nick Mould then Sally Bulmer for a great afternoon out.
Next up and the Staveley’s took part in the 10th anniversary edition of 'One Foot in the Gargrave'. A self-navigated 23 mile circular route around Malhamdale, organised by the West Yorkshire branch of the LDWA and is open to both runners and walkers. Well stocked aid stations, beautiful scenery and a meal, Yorkie Bar and certificate at the end made for a lovely day out!
From our juniors this week George North attended the Burtons Athletic club midweek open event jum
After clearing1.23 at the start of the season, George set himself the target of 1.25 and also getting himself ranked on the national leaderboards for the U13 category (as an U11). Several attempts this year but no jump and a last opportunity of the year at the last meet saw George sail over 1.25 on his first jump before also going on to nearly match his LJ PB with a jump of 4.07m.
Finally (and across much of the week; racking up more miles than just about everyone combined), Steve Battle took part in the EMU 6-Day ultra and Hungarian National Championship. Running a single 898.2m loop and covering as many loops as possible over 6 days. Steve not only covered an incredible 562 km but also formed part of the British duo who covered a collective 1368.3 km to crown the British team the winners, with the Czech republic in 2nd and Hungary 3rd.
