It was time for another edition of the popular KMR series on Sunday in Wickersley and the 3rd KMR of the month in what has been a busy but fruitful month for the Harriers at the popular series. Two laps out through Wickersley Woods for an undulating 4.5 mile course and a superb day for the Brady household as Henry Brady took his first win of the series, attacking the race from the start to hold on to the lead though he didn’t have to wait long for a Harriers double as Hannah Miller once again took 1st Lady as well as 5th overall. Joining the Happy couple on the podium Matt Daly also continuing a fine run of form in the series as he took 2nd meaning half the Harriers squad on the day took home a prize as joining the team was Neil Allsop, Nick Mould and James Morris
meanwhile over at the York Open the Harriers had three athletes attend the windy York Open meeting on Sunday 31st August.
Summer Johnson performed well into a 2.7m/s headwind in the 75m hurdles finishing in 12.98s, one of her quickest times.
She equalled her long jump pb with a leap of 4.64m and then finished with a 17.67m javelin throw, which proved a difficult event in the strong cross wind.
Grace Walton competed in the Long Jump (4.27m) and then struggled with a strong headwind in the 80m hurdles (15.35s) and in the 200m finishing straight (31.50s)
Charlotte Ayton had an interesting and frustrating day. She produced the best two jumps of the whole long jump competition (5.08m and 5.07m) but when it mattered, in the novel knockout phase between the first and second athletes, she got things slightly wrong and came away with the £30 second prize and not the £100 first place prize. Reminding her will not get a good response!! Charlotte finished her day with a further frustrating run into a very strong 200m headwind.
All in all, some good learning experiences for our three girls, when competing in challenging conditions.
