Wednesday saw another KMR race as ever a popular Wednesday night destination for the Worksop Harriers with a new route and the Maltby Memorial Race as the run we re-routed for 2025 with a challenging course that sent runners on a loop through the Abbey Woods before a long climb up back up to Hooton Levitt, covering just shy of 4 miles and 300 ft on the trails. A productive evening for the 15 Harriers coming home with a couple of bottles of Plonk as Hannah Miller took 1st place for the ladies (and 8th overall!) whilst Matt Daly was 3rd for the Men, followed quickly by Henry Brady (5th) to make it three Harriers in the top-10. Completing the Harriers team we had Chris Johnson (26th), Chris Lawrence (43rd), Jim Staveley (56th), James Morgan (64th), Julie Gaskell (77th), Nat Cunningham and Alex Edwards (82nd and 83rd) , Stu McCluskie (85th), Sharon James and Gary Schofield (making a club debut; 104th and 105th) and Sarah Morgan (113th).
On to the weekend and a mix of fells and T&F as we start at the Great Hucklow Fell race. A category BM race with very varied scenery and terrain, covering 6 miles with 1300 ft of elevation between the White Peak and Dark Peak. This is the only day of the year runners can run most of this route and also bag the Abney Moor trig point, due to sections of it being on private land. Jim Staveley finished in 1:13:04 (also enjoying a spot entry prize courtesy of Sally's well timed race entry!), Kerry Dickinson in 1:35:04 and Sally Staveley in 1:35:09. As ever, runners were rewarded with a piece of the legendary Great Hucklow flapjack!
On to the T&F and we start in Coventry where two young Harriers had fantastic day of competing as they brought home multiple gold medals as siblings Freddie and Penny both competed at the National Junior Para-Athletics Championship. Competing in the T38 category, Freddie took not only a full suite of PB's but gold in all four events across 60 and 100m sprints, 800m and the Long Jump (with a PB of 35cm!)
In the T37 Penny also had great success in the sprints and Long Jump as she took Gold in the 60 and 100m as well as a 9cm PB in the LJ! A fantastic day for both young harriers and the start of a many compeitions to come as both were youngest competitors in the competition.
On to T&F and a very changeable day saw good conditions for the track & field athletes interspersed with random heavy downpours occasional interrupting play as the third County Dev T&F League match took place at Newark
Sprints and Hurdles
Starting out at 100 m Cathy Membere tried her hand at the sprint running 19.4s. Up to 200m and a popular event and some really strong results saw Dabeer Yousef run 26.3s, Adam Jonczyk (29.2s), Grace Walton (29.9) and Harry Cole (30.3s)
Completing a full lap in the 400 m and Dabeer Yousef ran 57.5s and Adam Jonczyk (64.4s) in what would be starting a busy day for Adam!
On to the Hurdles and in the 80mH Grace Walton ran 14.9 whilst up an AG and distance in the 100mH Charlotte Ayton was putting the finishing bits of training in as she prepares for next weeks English Schools competition running clear of the field in 15.9s
The day finished with the relays with the Harriers fielding a mixed relays 4x400 team as Matt Daly, Grace Walton, Miley Townrow and Tom Shaw combined to run 4:23.2
Endurance
In the 1,500m Matt Daly ran a PB (4:48.3), followed by Miley Townrow (5:10.0) and distance debut for Harry Cole (5:48.6)
Up a distance to 3,000m (and a club GP race) saw the men run the distance for the first time (enjoying the bonus of a default PB) as Tom Shaw ran 9:12.2 followed by Matt Daly (10:21.1), Adam Jonczyk recovering from his 400m just 5 minutes earlier in 12:12.3 and Cathy Mhembere(14:22.1)

Just one thrower in this weeks addition as Charlotte Ayton practiced her JT (in a challenging downpour!), throwing 16.67m
