A shorter report this week but excellent performances from a strong turn out of young Harriers at the final CDL of the year as Peter Fendley reports:
The final Nottinghamshire County Development League match of the season took place on Saturday 23rd August at Mansfield. This league has continually grown in popularity since its inception in 2022. In the first year 576 athlete events were undertaken, continually rising each year, to 933 events this year. In 2026 the new under 16 age group will be introduced into the league giving them excellent development opportunities competing against older athletes and, in some cases, against their parents!
This weekend's match saw a very good turnout from the Harriers multi-events group along with three of our seniors, 12 athletes in total competing in 27 events. Some of the best performances of the day were by ever improving Darcey Croshaw, achieving pb's in all her three events (High Jump, Long Jump and Shot) which will give her a lot of confidence when she joins several other Harriers at Chelmsford in the English Schools multi-events finals in late September. Harry Cole finished his T&F season with a strong performances and two PBs. James Lonsdale chose the day to put in a very good speed endurance session, competing in the 5000m, 1500m and 800m, winning his first two events, which bodes well for his planned road races in the near future.

Away from the majority of the action at the CDL at the Charnwood AC Open and two fantastic performances from more of our young Harriers. Isaac Beresford too Gold in Long Jump and before a double PB in the 100 m first in the heats then again in the final of 13.70 to finish 4th. George North also had a superb end of season taking home a full set of medals with High jump gold, Long jump silver and bronze in the 600m.
Off the track and under the lights as the Bulmer's made a trip to the West Coast for the Blackpool Night Run, raising money for Brian House Children’s Hospice
7.5km run starting at Blackpool Tower heading north on the promenade under the famous illumination before turning round at Bispham and finishing at the tower. The run started at 8.30pm to give the full illuminations. A huge downpour right on queue for the start and full coastal winds in the last mile made for a challenging run but thankfully plenty of distraction as runners toured the lights on an excellent run organised for a great charity.
