Crawley 12hour Track Race.

seve_battle[1].jpgWhile mere mortals find full marathons a challenge, some people are made of sterner stuff. One such person is Steve Battle, Worksop Harriers ultra runner.
In the Crawley 12 Hour Track Race he ran an incredible 71.85 miles to finish 3rd overall & 1st in his over 40’s age category in what was only his third ultra distance event.

Having previously run 119miles in the Tooting 24 Hour Race this was practically a walk in the park for Steve.

After the race Steve said:

“I’m fairly happy with the distance I covered. Having gone down with a heavy cold three days before the race I decided to treat it as a training run as I build up towards running the 152 mile ‘Spartathlon’ in September. You have 36 hours to complete the Spartathlon – roughly 50miles every 12 hours so I’m beginning to believe that it’s just about possible. But it wont be easy!”
