Weekly Roundup – 22nd July

A quieter week for the Harriers this week. Thursday saw four Harriers take part in the Hardwick Hall 10k on a hot-sunny evening. The course includes fantastic views of Hardwick Hall coupled with some stiff uphill climbs (and fast downhill!). Tom McClaren led the Harriers home finishing in 45:56, followed by Charlotte Jones (48:50), Natalie Cunningham (55:50) and Joanne Campbell just behind in 57:38.

By Saturday we had quite a bit of parkrun action as 5 Harriers on a Norfolk Coast Trip represented Worksop at Sheringham Hall parkrun, Tom & Emma Shaw got their legs moving after tackling Snowdon Marathon last weekend at Penistone parkrun, and at local Clumber Park parkrun, 14 Harriers took place including a new PB for Junior Harrier Travis Senior in a blistering 19:22, and another first lady position for Anna Maddocks in the same time.

On Sunday, Six Harriers took part in the Round Donny Run; a 9-stage race run over 21 miles with 18 miles of ‘stage racing’. The event can be run either as a solo, pair or as a three-member relay. Big kudos to Sally Bulmer, accomplishing her longest ever run at the event with David Bulmer, as well Stuart McCluskie for also completing the event. We also had an entry in to the three-member relay team (raising awareness for the joy of cake everywhere as Team Cake Eaters Anon) with Amy Ogden, Charlotte Jones and Tom McLaren uniting to complete the event. Not only were they top cake eaters but they were also winners overall of the relay team! More cake deserved all-round! Despite being quite a warm day for a spot of running, an excellent time was had by all at an event that offers a bit of a twist on the race format.
