Weekly Round-up

It’s been another cracking week of results from Harriers young and older as we kick off with the English National XC Championships at Market Harborough, for school years 5, 6 and 7.
Our very own Anna Kemp (Ranby House School and Worksop Harriers) finished 3rd for a National Bronze medal in the year 5 girls race, adding to the Silver Medal obtained at the National Independent Schools Championships, at Worksop College last Saturday. Two National medals in 8 days is showing some Great consistency in achievements! Well done Anna!
On to Sunday it was all half marathon action as Harriers took part in both the Sheffield Half Marathon and the Monsal Trail Half, both with distinct up hill first half and a downhill fast finish!
At Sheffield, with its 1,000+ ft of climbing packed in to the first half up Ringinglow Road, before time for a quick breather and brilliant views over the city and then a fast downhill 10k back to the city centre, it was a close fought battle in the mens group for Worksop as Matt Daly and Henry Brady ran two superb races. Matt Daly nudged ahead with a time of 1:25:18 with Henry just behind in 1:26:02. Jordan Ship completed the mens trio in 1:52:07. Tanja Maric continued in strong form in 1:51:46 (just 20 seconds off a PB on a very challenging course!) whilst Sarah Whiting made a great battling performance after missing out on Retford Half in 2:07:59.
Over near Bakewell it was the Monsal Trail Half Marathon with an out-and-back on the scenic trail. Sarah Morgan paced a lovely even effort to bag herself a PB in 2:11:31 for success on the Monsal Trail, followed by Kerry Dickinson in 2:16:01
Next week we’ve got a Hardy few off for the first big marathon of the year over in Manchester so more stories of success incoming!
