DEWSBURY 10km

In form Worksop Harrier John Hewitt (triple over 50's Notts County Champion) recorded his fastest time for a number of years in the Dewsbury 10km. Having already won the Notts over 50's title and beaten the Derbyshire champion it was an opportunity to measure up to the best runners in his age category Yorkshire had to offer in their championships.

In a large field of over a thousand competitors, Hewitt (40th, 34:51) was the first runner in his over 50's a group home, over a minute in front of the Yorkshire V50's champion.

Harrier’s team manager, John Harrison said:

"I think John (Hewitt) was inspired by watching his daughter, Charlotte, represent Bassetlaw in the Nottinghamshire Schools Cross-Country Championships the day before at Berry Hill. In her first race at this level she finished a very creditable 18th, third counter for Bassetlaw, to help the team to second place"

The rest of the Harriers at Dewsbury finished as follows:
Nigel Russell (122nd, 37:52),
John Harrison (148th, 38:40),
Richard Suker (211th, 40:31),
Graeme Murray (387th, 44:01)

There were 1,060 finishers
