Harriers Chairman, Peter Fendley visited Worksop’s twin town, Garbsen, in Germany for the clubs annual exchange trip for the 25th consecutive year. He was accompanied by Steve Battle & while there they both competed, with distinction, in two cross-country races in one afternoon.
First Steve Battle (15:17) won the veterans over 40’s 4.2km race, followed by Peter Fendley (6th, 17:40). Then with just minutes to recover, they ran in the ‘Open’ 8.4km race, where Steve finished 6th (34:20) & Peter 10th (37:00).
Peter Fendley said:
“Obviously, it’s always a really enjoyable trip – that’s why I keep going back. Over the years we have built up very good relations with our hosts & look forward to reciprocating their hospitality when they come to compete in the Worksop Half Marathon in October”
The final race in the Notts AAA Mini League Cross-Country was held at Berry Hill Mansfield, where the junior Harriers finished as follows:
Under 11 Girls 1km:
Vicky Argyle (17th, 4:17),
Sophie Bonser (24th, 4:43),
Kate Twymhouse (25th. 4:44).
Under 11 Boys 1.5km:
Jack Harrop (13th, 5:10),
Liam Argyle (22nd, 5:30),
Daniel Appleby (23rd, 5:31).
Under 13 Boys 3km:
Aiden Bonser (13th, 10;05).
While the Harriers best performance of the day came from Emily Appleby (5th, 7:11) in the Under 13 Girls 2km race.
Andy Hooley (53rd, 58:08) led the senior Harriers home in the Norton 9mile road race, where his was followed in by:
Terry Millington (124th, 1:04:28),
Phillip Harrop (157th, 1:06:44),
Sharon Farrow (326th, 1:18:17).
While Patrick Smith (16th, 30:09), aged 10, ran in the 3mile fun run.
