The junior Worksop Harriers got off to an encouraging start, finishing second, in the opening meeting in the Notts Mini League Sportshall competition at The Grove Leisure Centre at Newark.
 
Under 11 girls
Chloe Hallewell: Standing Triple Jump (2nd, 4.66m), 1 Lap (4th, 14.3), 2 Laps (43.8).
Miranda Parks: Foam Javelin (3rd, 11m), 1 Lap (15.4), 2 Laps (48.2).
Beth Dennis: 2 Laps (4th, 44.2), 1 Lap (14.9).
Charlotte Oaks: Speed Bounce (6th, 46), 2 Laps (48.8), Standing Triple Jump (4.28m).
Sophie Mills: 1 Lap (14.2), 2 Laps (45.7), Speed Bounce (41).
Lucy Harrop: 1 Lap (15.8), Speed Bounce (40), Standing Triple Jump (2.96m).
Emily Twible: 1 Lap (19.2), Standing Triple Jump (2.98m).
Katrina Dycka: Standing Triple Jump (4.22m).
Obstacle Rely: Miranda, Chloe, Beth & Sophie (3rd, 1:37.9).
With the under 11 girls finishing 2nd in their age category.

Cole Gladwin: 3 Lap (5th, 48.0), Speed Bounce (6th, 32), 1 Lap (15.2)
With the under 11 boys finishing 6th in their age category.
 
Under 13 girls
Sophie Bonser: Shot (2nd, 5.63m), Speed Bounce (5th, 71), 2 Laps (29.7).
Bethany Platford: 2 Laps (3rd, 27.9), Speed Bounce (69), Standing Triple Jump (5.4m).
Lauren Ward: Standing Triple Jump (5th, 4.92m), 2 laps (30.1).
Stephanie Oaks: 2 Laps (29.8), Speed Bounce (63), Standing Triple Jump (4.22m).
Georgia Johnson: 2 Laps (30.2), Speed Bounce (71).
Georgina Page: Standing Triple Jump (3.96m), Shot (5.04m).
8 Lap Paarlauf: Georgia & Lauren (3rd, 2:02.4).

Victoria Page: Standing Triple Jump (3rd, 5.52m), 2 Laps (29.2).
Stacie Leather: Shot (3rd, 6.0m), 2 Laps (28.0).
8 Lap Paarlauf: Emily & Stacie (3rd, 1:52.6).
With the under 15 girls finishing 2nd in their age category.
 
Under 15 boys
Luke Hallewell: Standing Triple Jump (3rd, 5.7m), 2 Laps (4th, 25.6).
Josh Smith: Shot (3rd, 6.03m), Speed Bounce (4th, 58).
8 Lap Paarlauf: Josh & Luke (3rd, 1:52.3).
With the under 15 boys finishing 3rd in their age category.
 
The next meeting in the league, also at the Grove Leisure Centre at Newark, is on Sunday 1st November.
 

WORKSOP HALF MARATHON & FUN RUN

 
This Sunday (25th) will see the 28th running of Worksop Half Marathon & fun Run. This very popular race is expected to attract well over 2,000 runners, making in the area largest participation-sporting event.
 
The race starts from Newgate Street at 10.30am followed by the Fun Run & entries will be taken on the day, on the Market Place, up till 10am if the race limit is not reached.
 
The race will follow the same course as last year, leaving Newgate Street & heading up Sparken Hill & along the B6034 as far as Carburton Crossroads. It then turns left into Clumber Park, which it exits via Truman’s Lodge. The route then turns right along the Old Coach Road towards Manton Lodge where it turns left on to Windmill lane. The runners then pass through the grounds of Worksop College, before returning to Newgate Street via Sparken Hill.
 
Due to Police concerns over the safety of the runners the following road closures will be in place:
Newgate Street, Park Street from 7am
Sparken Hill & the B6034 from the Netherton Road Roundabout to Carburton Crossroads from 10am.
 
The Worksop Harriers apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but alternative diversions routes will be clearly sign posted to ensure minimum disruption - please plan your journeys accordingly! The club hopes that people will enjoy watching such an inspiring spectacle!
