The third meeting in the Notts AAA Mini League cross-country was at a very wet Brierley Country Park at Hurthwaite. The exceedingly muddy conditions meant it was a real test of strength & determination. The juniors Harriers star performers were once again the under 11 girls coped well with the difficult conditions to finish 2nd in their age category. The under 15 girls team also did well, missing out on 2nd place by just a single point. Results: Under 11 girls - 1,000mtrs. Chloe Hallewell (5th, 4:19), Beth Dennis (7th, 4:24), Lauren Ward (9th, 4:32), Katerina Dycka (12th, 4:04), Sophie Mills (17th, 5:24), Daisy Leywood (19th, 5:51), Miranda Parks (20th, 6:34). Under 11 boys - 1,500mtrs. James Lonsdale (4th, 6:17) was the clubs best performer of the meeting and was well supported by: Daniel Appleby (12th, 6:53), Jack Sanders (13th, 6:54), James Davison (19th, 7:26). Under 13 girls - 2,000mtrs. Bethany Platford(17th, 10:37), Sophie Bonser (18th, 12:31). Under 13 boys - 3,000mtrs. Jack Harrop (16th, 14:03), James Fleeman (17th, 14:23), Ben Twible (21st, 15:41). Under 15 girls - 3,000mtrs. Emily Appleby (7th, 15:23), Stacie Leather (9th, 16:27). The senior Harriers where also busy over the Christmas period competing in both the Southwell 10km & Gerald Story Memorial race at Worksop College. Southwell results Tracey West (137th, 41:16), Carol Lonsdale (312th, 47:11 PB), John Harrison (313th, 47:12), Jimmy Kelly (357th, 48:41) Donna Blizard (436th, 51:52). Both junior & senior Harriers will be competing this Saturday (10th) in the County Cross-Country Championships at Berry Hill, Mansfield, where the club will have it’s best turnout in recent years with 43 athletes representing the club.
