Mini League Sportshall

The junior Worksop Harriers got off to a good start in the first meeting of the Notts AAA Mini League Sportshall.

Results
Under 9’s
1 lap Emma Parker (8^th, 20:1).

Under 11 girls
An excellent team performance, with all the girls finishing in the top 2 or 3 in every event they contested saw them finish =3^rd in their age category. They would have done even better but the absence of a 4^th team member meant they could not field a relay team.
Chloe Hallewell: 1 lap (2^nd, 14:5), Standing Triple jump (2^nd, 3.92m).
Miranda Parks: Foam Javelin (2^nd, 12.25m), 1 lap (15:4).
Lauren Ward 3 laps (2^nd, 45:7), Speed bounce (=3^rd43).

Under 11boys
Daniel Appleby once again excelled with the Javelin to help lead the team to third place in their age category. They too would have been better placed if they had a 4^th competitor enabling them to contest the relay race.
Daniel Appleby: Foam Javelin (1^st, 19m), 3 laps (4^th, 44:6).
Jack Sanders: Speed Bounce (2^nd, 41), 1 lap (4^th, 14:6).
Michael Parker: Standing Triple Jump (4^th, 4.02m), 1 lap (16:2), Foam Javelin (13m)

Under 13 girls
Again good individual performances by the under 13 girls where hampered by not having a relay team, but nonetheless they finished in 4^th place in their age category.
Sarah Angel: Shot (2^nd, 5.42m), 2 laps (4^th, 28:5).
Anna Hall: Speed Bounce (3^rd, 66), 2 laps (31:2).
Sophie Bonser: Standing Triple Jump (3^rd, 4.34m), Speed Bounce (67).
8 lap Paarlauf Sophie Bonser & Anna Hall (4^th, 2:11.5).

Under 13 boys
An encouraging performance by a full team saw the boys claim 3^rd place the their age group.
Luke Halliwell: 2 laps (3^rd, 26:0), Standing Triple Jump (5^th, 5.4m).
James Fleeman: 2 laps (28:6), Shot (4.9m).
Jack Harrop: Speed Bounce (4^th, 68).
Ben Twible: Shot (6^th, 4.75m).
8 lap Paarlauf Jack Harrop & Ben Twible (3^rd, 1:58.6).
Obstacle Relay (3^rd, 1:34.1).

Under 15 Girls
A full squad saw the under 15 girls showed what can be achieved by finishing 2^nd in their age group.
Emily Appleby: 2 laps (2^nd 26:5).
April Ward: Speed Bounce (5^th, 62).
Tanya Barnett: 2 laps (29:0).
Stacie Leather: Shot (3^rd, 6.28).
8 lap Paarlauf Emily Appleby & April Ward (2^nd, 1:54.3).
4 X 2 lap Relay (2^nd, 1:50.9).

The club as a whole finished a satisfactory 3^rd overall despite not having any under 15 boys competing.

Harriers Coach, Michele Harrop said:
“We are making good progress, we have more & more young athletes competing for the club & they all did really well. It has been a hard year for them as the lack of facilities in Worksop has meant that through the summer the only time they have been able to do events such as long jump or high jump was in competitions. At least with sportshall competitions they can practice the events in training”

The junior’s next competitions are the Trader Fun Run (held in conjunction with the Worksop Half Marathon) this Sunday (26^th) followed by the next Mini League Cross Country meeting on 16^th November.
