The Worksop Harriers had a very successful competition in the Notts County 10km Championships at Holme Pierrpont coming away with three individual medallists.
John Hewitt (14th overall, 36:10) continued his good form winning his second silver medal in the over 50’s category, to go with his recent podium finish in the 10mile championships.
He was followed in by John Harrison (74th, 41:20).
Along with improving performances Caroline McGinley (31st, 48:24) gained further reward for stepping up her training when she collected a silver medal in the ladies over 35’s competition.
Not to be out done, Julie Bonser (44th, 50:07) picked up the ladies bronze over 35’s medal.
While Charlotte Hewitt, (54th, 51:20) also ran well to record a personal best time.
In the Sherwood 8km trail race Keith Hopkinson (16th, 39:07) was followed home by 82-year-old Maurice Jones (77th. 1:17:06).
Further a field Steve Battle (1:25:15, 3rd O/45) led home Paul Sadler (1:28:25 PB) & John Proffitt (1:47:45, 3rd O/65) at the Torbay Half Marathon.
The next race in our Grand Prix is the Mansfield Half Marathon that takes place this Sunday (6th July). This is followed by the 4th race in the Notts AAA Summer League is on Wednesday 9th July at Worksop College. While we want everyone to run we do need marshals – anyone whiling to help please contact John Harrison ASAP.
