The 5.5mile Totley Moor fell race was the 5th race in the Harriers Grand Prix & involved over 1,100ft of ascent & decent making it a tough way of gaining points, nevertheless 5 ‘GP Bandits’ were whiling to give it a go.

The Harriers Grand Prix continued with the 3rd race in the Notts AAA Summer league over a hilly 5.5mile course at Erewash. Due to road safety concerns the race was run in the opposite direction to past years, this made things interesting as it meant that the biggest hill came at the end of the race.

Kyle Craib had an excellent run to lead the club home finishing 9th in 31:08. This remarkable performance by the sixteen year old strengthened his hold on the lead in the under 20’s category.

He was followed by:
Steve Battle (27th, 32:25),
John Hewitt (28th, 32:30),
Peter Roberts (31st, 32:55),
Crag Argyle (62nd, 35:07),
Robert Roper (66th, 35:24),
Paul Sadler (74th, 35:43),
John Harrison (87th, 36:17),
Keith Hopkinson (103rd, 37:18),
Tony Savage (105th, 37:29),
Philip Harrop (130th, 38:31),
Dennis Learad (144th, 39:21),
John Proffitt (185th, 42:21),
Jimmy Kelly (211th, 44:34).

Caroline McGinley (43rd, 42:49) led the ladies teams home. She was followed by:
Carol Lonsdale (51st, 43:24),
Tracy Moore (55th, 44:11),
Julie Bonser (61st, 44:51),
Donna Blizard (64th, 45:21),
Charlotte Hewitt (78th, 46:16).

This means that after 3 races in the league the Harriers teams are in encouraging positions in their respective leagues. The senior men’s team hold on to 4th place, while the veteran men’s team move up to 7th (from 8th). In the ladies leagues the veterans move up to 4th place (from 5th) while seniors drop 2 places to 17th.

The next race in the leagues is the Harries home event at Worksop College on Wednesday 9th July & starts at 7:15pm. Anyone with friends or relatives whiling to help stage the race please contact John Harrison ASAP - Thanks!
