Retford Half Marathon

The Retford Half Marathon was run in warm blustery conditions, not conducive to fast times.

Nevertheless Craig Argyle (19th, 1:29:00) ran a good race to lead the Worksop Harriers home.

A staggering Dennis Learad (55th, 1:38:37) nearly missed his dinner after falling into the eager clutches of two ambulance men – fingers crossed for the results of his urine sample!

Despite the conditions Dave Ward (75th) battled round to finish in 1:42:18, just missing out on a PB.

The clubs only lady finisher was Sally Bannister (109th, 1:48:15). While Helen Eastland, still recovering from the Mablethorpe weekend, dropped out after 7miles.

Philip Harrop (112th, 1:48:52) had the benefit of a lie-in and made up good ground, after arriving after the race had started!

The rest of the Harriers finished as follows:
Peter Fendley (41st, 1:35:47),
And Graham Sheen (149th, 2:01:52).
There were 177 finishers.

Time is running out for runners wanting to take part in the Clumber 10km race, which takes place on Sunday 7th October. This is race is ideal preparation for the Worksop Half marathon which takes place on Sunday 28th October and both races look likely to see a record entry.
